No wonder I've avoided online personals for so long. I mean, I know I'm an intellectual snob and all, but stuff like this just makes me cringe:

I am motivated, open-minded, and have a good heart. I am the guy whom you can call really really intelligent. It seems that's kinda intemidating people and I am having hard time selling myself :( I am serious, but dying to have a little fun :) Hope to hear from you ;) intelligent, open-minded, really look doesn't matter (for real this time). It's a plus if you are career-oriented, but can give some time for "us" ;)

"intemidating"?

I'm starting to feel like Jessica Stein over here.

Intemidating

Found your blog via a search for fellow Ann Arborites, and just had to laugh after reading the ad you came across. How can one desire a person who is "career minded" and at the same time have "some time for us"? Isn't that a contradiction? Frankly, I always felt that reading the online personals was always much more entertaining than actually dating the personalities found online (from unfortunate experience).

Nice weblog...fun read...not too intemidating.

:)

I personally love the overabundance of smilies he uses. Especially since he says "Hope to hear from you *wink*" Its almost like "hope to hear from you, if you know what i mean. nudge nudge, wink wink say no more." And, why is it that when a guy says "I am really really intelligent" they generally have both the intelligence and social skills of an earthworm? You should go on a date and prove my theory correct.

Hey, even Jessica Stein got her happy ending. ::nodnod::

Er. At least I think she did. I kinda forgot how the dang movie ended.

I'm always amazed at how many women actually put that they enjoy "long walks on the beach" and other cliches in their profiles. It's a huge turn-off when I suspect a woman's entire sense of "what romance is" comes from a drug store fabio-adorned novella.
