So I'm finally back in Ann Arbor, living here for real instead of bumming nights on other people's couches. I rather like my apartment thus far-- it's smaller than I remembered and has a serious paucity (yay nickel vocabulary words!) of storage space, and there's a house across the street that was having a loud obnoxious party while I was trying to sleep last night, BUT, once my bedroom gets set up it will be lovely, and Shoshana will be a lovely roommate, and I have a really cool view and a balcony that connects to my bedroom, so all is well in the world. WOW, runon sentence.

Anyway. I've decided that friends rock. I asked a bunch of people to help me move my stuff yesterday, and FOUR of them showed up, including Jason, who I hadn't seen in God only knows how long. Between the five of us, we had everything moved up the three flights of stairs to my apartment in something like an hour. I was highly impressed with the painlessness of the entire operation. Once we got everything moved in and took a nice little break for water and chitchat, everyone but Jason left and he helped me do things like move furniture around and get a new mattress and bed frame for my bed, which is now quite cozy. I spent most of the day alternately unpacking and lying around talking to Jason, and after a late-night trek to Meijer (the most frustrating Meijer experience I've possibly EVER had, because I got there after student rush and they were out of EVERYTHING), he took off and I collapsed in my nifty new bed.

Today I'll spend working my bizarre shifts at the library (it's Labor Day, so all the full time staff people are gone and the temp people are subbing for them, which means I ended up with three one-hour shifts at really random times throughout the day-- but hey, it's time and a half, so what do I care), buying my last few books, and trying to track down the stuff I couldn't find at Meijer yesterday. Oh yeah, and trying to beat my apartment into some semblance of organization before Shoshana gets here tomorrow and starts unpacking her stuff. I figure the last thing we need is to have two people's stuff scattered randomly about the apartment. It's bad enough now with just one.

Anyway, I gotta go run around and do errands before my next shift starts. Ta.

Just so you all know:

Tori Amos has a new album, called Scarlet's Walk, coming out October 29. She'll be going on tour sometime in November.

Just in time for my birthday and everything.

That is all.
