So it turns out that the University of Michigan library does not at ALL appreciate it when students lose its books.
I went in to check out new copies of the books I lost (only limited luck there, alas) and declare the books missing so at least I'll be informed if they show up.
Turns out that if they don't, I'll be charged $35 per book in processing fees alone-- and that's assuming I replace the books myself. Gods only know how much they'll charge me if they end up having to replace the damn things.
Oh yeah, and did I mention that when I had the circ people print out a list of all the books I'd checked out so I could tell them which ones were missing, there was one book in there that I was sure I'd returned already, that is nowhere to be found in my apartment? That's another assload of money right there if it doesn't turn up.
Leave it to
tafticus to find the lighter side of the situation:
taftiechat: At least you aren't whipped by Mary Sue [for those of you not in the know, Mary Sue Coleman is U of M's president] or something.
taftiechat: "Ten lashes!"
nosleep4anie: *shrug* I think I'd rather have that.
nosleep4anie: THen I wouldn't have to pay any money, and that Mary Sue looks like a big wussy anyway.
nosleep4anie: Bet it wouldn't even sting.
nosleep4anie: :P
taftiechat: You never know. Sometimes it's the quiet ones who have the fury.
nosleep4anie: Yeah... she prolly wouldn't do it herself anyway.
nosleep4anie: I bet she has minions for that sort of thing.
taftiechat: Yeah probably.
taftiechat: Maybe those tunnel rats.
taftiechat: I think they're her henchmen.
nosleep4anie: See, now you're jus tbeing silly. :P
taftiechat: hehe
taftiechat: *NOW* I'm being silly.
Anyway, now I need to scrape together the remains of my pride and my thesis draft and see if I can come up with something reasonably turn-in-able for Monday.
(Anyone wanna come snuggle with me? I'm still freezing, and thanks to the wonderful combination of Michigan winter and my crappy skinny-girl circulation, I probably won't be warm again until at least the end of April. Feh, I say.)

Love that show.
I am getting nothing accomplished tonight, as I am freezing and sleepy and lack all vestige of motivation. I assume that I will regret tis tomorrow when I have to write 6 pages and work at the library for 6 hours and do my laundry.
*sigh*
I need to get the fuck out of this state and into someplace warmer. Instead, I'm going to Montreal over Thanksgiving weekend. I don't get it either.
