Happy birthday to me.

I'm sorry I missed your party, Maggie. I fell asleep on the couch for about three hours--and by fell asleep, I mean was practically comatose--and when I woke up it was hailing.

Not a great way to ring in your birthday, but whatcha gonna do.

Feeling much better about life in general than I did a few hours ago.

All three items are to help you with your thesis. The jelly bellies need little explanation.

The post-its are for writing notes and marking bookspots.

The clip is to hold pages and books up so that you can type more easily. And when you're done, you can use it to close the bag of jelly bellies until the next session.
