I spent far more time than I'd like to admit yesterday reading [livejournal.com profile] rollick's 'Whose LJs should I avoid' thread. So much hate and vitriol and rampant drama couldn't help but draw a crowd, and despite not actually having jumped on the bandwagon and posted (certainly there are a lot of people whose LJs I glanced through once, decided I didn't like, and promptly forgot about, and a few more that were on my friends list for a while but turned out to be, for one reason or another, not my cup of tea, but I've never come across a journal I dislike enough to deride in a public forum), the sheer amount of time I spent reading through that thread makes me feel kind of slimy by association. Imagining for a moment that [livejournal.com profile] rollick's post generated a physical mob scene, I wouldn't have been screaming obscenities or tipping over cars or starting fires or anything, but I would have been standing off to the side somewhere, getting a visceral thrill from the whole thing. Somehow that makes me feel like less of a good person than I'd like to believe I am.

So anyway, I suppose that as far as sordid confessions go, my prurient interest in LJ drama is pretty tame. What can I say, I'm just that boring.

I walked in the door after work today, plopped on the couch, and announced, "Well, today totally sucks."

She offered me chocolate.

I told her of the sheer variety of levels on which today sucks.

We sat in silence for a little while, then she turned to me and said, "I think we need to listen to The World Is Full Of Bastards. Loud."

So we did.

I feel much better now.
