Just spent 20 minutes composing an update that disappeared into the Times Square internet cafe ether, and this place is closing soon so I don't have time to reconstruct.

But rest assured, I'm having a marvelous time.

Every second that passes I'm more and more sure that moving here next year is not just the right, but the only possible decision for me.

Tonight reves_rouges and I went to a nerd orgy livejournal meetup in Brooklyn with sunyata__, chronicfreetime, and a whole bunch of other cool people whose names I don't have time to dig up now. Afterward, reves_rouges and I saw the closest (free) equivalent to the Empire State Building view: we followed the lovely Desiree and Jason to the roof of their apartment building, two blocks away from the ESB, and got to take in Manhattan at night from 21 stories up. As I stood there, gazing in awe over the city and taking wholely inadequate blurred pictures of the incredible view, I whispered to myself, "I'm going to live here. I am going to live HERE," as if saying it enough times would make it true.

I AM GOING TO LIVE HERE.

But for now, I'm thoroughly enjoying my visit.
