To do over the rest of this week:

*Finish draft of second chapter for Thursday--more about Meg and Coraline and the connection between fear/bravery/heroism. More about parents and villains in A Wrinkle in Time and Coraline. Work in stuff about the growth/change/development, or lack thereof, of protagonists at the end of their adventures. Maybe work in liminal helper-figures, if I can figure out where it fits in.
*Thursday and maybe Friday: work on revisions of first chapter's Alice argument, paying close attention to continuity between first and second chapters.
*Friday: Give drafts to Aubrey and Becca for proofreading, edit over the weekend using their comments. Work on loooong-overdue revisions of first chapter while waiting to get drafts back with comments.

Next week:

*Continue editing and revising, making sure citations are both consistent and accurate.
*Write abstract, acknowledgements, and conclusion.
*Make sure everything follows the format mandated by the picky honors people.
*One last round of frenzied 3AM proofreading.
*Get 3 bound copies made at Kinko's
*Drop finished fucker off at English department before 4:30 on March 12
*Proceed directly to bar without passing go or collecting $200.

Fin.

Of course, nothing will go remotely according to this plan, but it's good to have a basic blueprint in my head at least.

I need to write something like 5-7 pages both tonight and tomorrow to stay on target, and seeing as I've only been averaging about 3 pages a night, it'll be pretty impressive if I actually get that much done. I've got the chapter outlined pretty well now, though, and my body seems to be acclimating itself to crisis sleep deprivation/caffeine buzz mode, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my pace will pick up a little.

Incidentally, this is kind of a shot in the dark but if there are any litgeek/masochists out there who are willing to proofread a draft of this monster for me this weekend, drop me a comment or e-mail me at frannyzooey AT livejournal dot com. If all goes according to plan, by Friday it should be about 50 double-spaced pages. I will come up with a suitable, highly imaginative thank-you gift for anyone who volunteers. Muchos gracias in advance.

Okay, let's do this thing.

*rolls up sleeves*
