Mar. 7th, 2004 05:27 pmI just won this e-bay auction*. Now, you might think that the girl who has no job lined up for the summer and has been taking an obscene amount of time off work has better uses for $12.49 + shipping than a clear purple umbrella, but you'd be wrong.
My favorite umbrella in the world was one I found in a Jimmy John's bathroom a couple years ago. It was clear vinyl with multicolored polkadots and had a purple curved plastic handle, and I think it was originally meant for someone about half my age. I lost that umbrella about a week ago in one of the MLB lecture rooms, and ever since I've been using this awful black thing that might or might not be my roommate's.
ithilstar has this theory that people would hate the rain a lot less if they all walked around carrying cheerful umbrellas, and since I found my old happy polkadotted umbrella I've found that its cheerfulness really does make the rain a lot less dreary. So I think of this as $12.95 + shipping toward my dreary weather peace of mind. Plus, I mean, come on! It's purple! And clear! And shiny! Who could resist that?
Man. I make the worst grown-up ever.
*I love the fact that it's referred to as both vintage and goth, despite being bright freaking purple and clearly no more than a few years old. Silly e-bay person.
