This is not a good time of year for me.

I've disliked Christmas since sometime around my junior year of high school, when I spent an ungodly amount of time and money picking out the perfect Christmas presents for all of my friends--none of whom could be bothered to get me so much as a $5 box of drugstore chocolates.

Anyway, it's traditionally a lonely, depressing time of year for me. This year, despite some very positive developments in my social life and overall state of mental health, is no different. Yesterday, Brooks took off for the frozen north and Haley took off for the frozen, uh, west? Aubrey is leaving after work today and after that, I'll be all alone in my crappy apartment until Thursday. Once I go home, I may or may not even have a bed to sleep in; my mom is in the process of some kind of massive overhauling of her walk-in closet, whose contents have now colonized the entirety of my bedroom.

My job, which to all appearances is pretty much the ideal slackass in-between work environment, is driving me out of my mind with boredom. Letting me get away with hour and a half long lunches is one thing, but it'd be nice if they at least noticed whether or not I show up at all.

It's been miserably cold outside for the past few days, and my appetite is crap again.

None of which matters at all right now, because I just found out that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released on July 16, 2005!

If all goes according to plan, I'll be in NYC training for the Teaching Fellows program, reading Book 6 on the subway along with everyone else in Manhattan.

Happy Chrismahanukwanzikah, kids.
