I went to a book signing by Max Brooks last week. It was all kinds of awesome.

But the subway is a great place to be in that situation. If you're in a middle car, the zombies have to eat their way through all the other cars to get to you and will be full and fall asleep just like normal folks do after Xmas dinner, allowing you to make your escape.
