Miscellany
Nov. 12th, 2003 11:49 amBefore I do anything else:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
Best LJ line of the week: "...people who don't just have issues, they have subscriptions."
Totally stealing that one,
shadesong.
In other news: Last night was the most wildly productive night I've had...at least since I taught myself two months of Criminology in two days. In the time between getting out of class at 4 and going to bed around 3:30-4, I:
*Got my weekly free massage at the Union.
*Re-read A Wrinkle in Time, flagging all the useful quotes I could find along the way.
*Had a brilliant insight about A Wrinkle in Time that beautifully connects it to the other books.
*Ate dinner.
*Went to my photocopy shift almost on time (when was the last time that happened?) only to find that, praise jebus, there wasn't anything there for me to do.
*Did a preliminary read-through of Wordsworth's Intimations Ode (I'm writing a significant number of my pages for my Enlightenment class on the ideals of childhood set forth in that poem and Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience, and the ways in which that ideal is reflected and/or subverted in Peter Pan.).
*Went on Meijer study break with Max, purchased previously-mentioned weird items. (Those of you who guessed their purpose aren't even close, by the way. Keep guessing! I'm serious about the prize offer. There are clues embedded all over the place in this entry.
*Went to the Fishbowl and typed up a three-page-long list of quotes supporting my aforementioned brilliant insight regarding A Wrinkle in Time.
*Typed up a couple page long preliminary draft of what I'm going to write regarding said brilliant insight.
*Was properly thrilled when I learned that
princessbebop is going to Egypt with MUN. Everybody go congratulate her! She is fantastic and deserves all the praise in the world.
This is very good, since tonight is
naiveinsight's birthday thingy at Charley's and tomorrow night is mine (We're gathering at Goodtime Charley's at 8:00 so the young'uns can get in and I can get my free dinner, and staying well past when the drink specials kick in at 11. Anyone local (and non-local, for that matter... :)) is welcome to come with, just please drop me a comment to let me know you'll be joining us so I can get the right-sized table), and while I don't plan on being too crazy tonight, I also don't plan on getting diddly shit accomplished tomorrow.
*yaaaaaawn*
Okay, folks, time to jump in the shower, meet with my thesis advisor, fight with the fucking Western Wayne bureaucracy so they'll let me back in to continue my writing workshop, get lunch with Amy, and, to quote the brilliant Jesse Janetta, work Work WORK WORK!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
naiveinsight!!!!!!!
