So close and yet so far
Aug. 16th, 2004 02:09 pmI could have a place to live in NY in a month and a half. It's a nice-ish loft in a sketchy-ish part of Brooklyn, where Haley's boy Curtis lives currently-- he's looking for a new place and needs someone to take over his lease. The rent's semi-reasonable, at least by NY standards, and I'd even sort of know two of the people I'd be living with, if by "sort of know" I mean that I had a ridiculously cerebral 2AM conversation and shared a joint with one of them and exchanged witty banter with the other while Haley and Curtis said their goodbyes on our last night in NY.
Except I currently have less than $200 in my checking account and a month and a half is nowhere near enough time to save up the kind of nest egg I'd need to get a life started in such an expensive city.
Except I've resigned the lease on my current apartment through August '05.
Except.
Except.
Except.
All of these wonderful opportunities keep falling into my lap, and it's driving me absolutely nuts that I have to be financially responsible enough to pass them up.
