HAPPY BLOOMSDAY!

That's right, kids, today is the 100th anniversary of Leopold Bloom's fictional journey through Dublin in James Joyce's epic novel, Ulysses.

Everyone should run, not walk to their nearst Irish pub, drink a few pints of Guinness, and read the "Cyclops" chapter. That shit makes acid look tame, I promise.

I was hoping BossPaul, at least, would be nerdy enough to appreciate my cheery greeting of "Happy Bloomsday!" when I walked in today, but he, alas, is a crazy medievalist and just gave me a blank look. Any modernist nerds out there who are interested in getting drunk and reading Joyce, do let me know.

...yeah, didn't think so.

Oh, if only I could be in Dublin with all the other nerds right now...

Also, because today appears to be my day for rampant literary snobbery, here's an excerpt from a W.H. Auden poem that we read in class today and struck me as particularly appropriate:
