My lungs hurt.

Something awful has been happening to my respiratory system over the past few weeks. For a while, I thought the extra coughing and sneezing was due to increased allergies from living with a cat for the first time in five years. Then I developed this weird cough in the mornings that would mostly go away after a couple hours; some people suggested that I might be developing asthma. A few days ago, I found myself with an inexplicable sore throat. Today I woke up hacking up a lung and with a voice that sounds like I'm talking from inside a tunnel.

Have I mentioned the obscene craziness that is going to be the next week? I absolutely cannot be sick right now. No. Uh uh. NOT ALLOWED.

Anyway, I don't know what to do. I have insurance, but it's out of state and I don't know how that works, plus god knows how long it'll take to be seen by someone. Also, I have no idea where to begin looking for a doctor in this city. Oh yeah, and just about every penny I own is about to be fed into a security deposit on an apartment, and even with insurance a doctor's visit and related medications would take a chunk out of that money.

I still have some decongestant left over from the last time I got sick, so I guess I could try taking that for a while and see what happens, but... gah. I so do not have time for this.

Maybe it's the sucky amount of pollution in a place like NYC. A change in that sort of thing can really screw up your lungs.

Also, the best over-the-counter stuff for cough is Mucinex DM... it's in the green bottle. Works like a miracle :P

It could be a cat allergy + pollution.

Is your insurance co. national?

I would call them and get a referral.

Or I could give you the name of my doctor...

You know...

... you should really come back to A2 and go to UHS. Several of the symptoms you've described directly correlate either to pregnancy or mono. ;)

Miss you babe, hope you feel better soonly!
