Tonight I cleaned the kitchen, made chili, and learned the purl, seed, and rib stitches.

Then I planted myself a Victory Garden, because apparently I am a 1940s housewife.

Ooooh, do you know how to do exciting crochet-related things? I have a couple scarves and a shawl that I double croceted a few years ago, using huge needles and really loose stitches so I ended up with this cool mesh of square-sheped holes. The problem is, while this looks very pretty it's not terribly practical if you want to, say, stay warm. Knitting's fun but crochet seems way faster and easier. If I could figure out how to crochet my Ravenclaw scarf instead of knitting it, I would be a happy monster.

Oh, and sadly I wear all three pairs of jeans I currently own---even the pair that's painfully too big, which I probably shouldn't--but I could probably scrounge up some old corduroys if you want to add a little color to your rug.

I found it strangely traumatic to cut up my overalls, even though they had a giant hole in the crotch. I have some pink jeans that I might add to it. And some jeans that sort of don't fit but I feel like they're too new to cut up. And some jeans that are really old but do fit. I think I'll just go to the Salvation Army and buy some Fat People Jeans (more fabric for the buck).

Scarves are quick and easy to crochet, but knitted ones look better IMO.

I'm really fascinated by this book. I don't have it or anything, but quite a bit of it can be read online.

My first amigurimi is sort of coming along. I'm trying to copy this.
