Dear Death Plague,

I have a Very Important Job Interview tomorrow which I really, really don't want to ruin by hocking a wad of phlegm all over the people trying to interview me. It's been two weeks now and you have officially overstayed your welcome. GO AWAY.

No love,

Melanie

In somewhat related news, this IM fragment is reason #639 why I adore Haley:

Haley: we still doing the yoga thing on sunday?
me: oh, uh, sure!
me: assuming my lungs haven't revolted and leapt out of my chest by then
Haley: hm. if i wake up tomorrow and there are lungs curled up with the cat on my bed, i'ma be pissed
me: hahaha
me: best. mental image. ever.

After sleeping for 17 hours (!) yesterday and waking up around 6PM with my cough, if anything, worse than ever, I'm reaching the reluctant conclusion that it is time for my insurance-less self to try something new, since the ten-day round of antibiotics clearly didn't do squat. What this "something new" might be, other than a round of different antibiotics that I still can't afford, is anyone's guess.

This just in: being poor is TOTALLY LAME.

All the best wishes for you on the interview tomorrow. And on a more selfish note, we should get together for a dinner sometime.

Thanks muchly. And yes we should, as soon as I stop being a walking petri dish.

Which antibiotics were you on?

Omnicef. Worked just fine the first couple times I used it, but I build up tolerances to antibiotics ridiculously fast.

Good luck with the interview tomorrow.

BTW... I've become a believer in the benefits of zinc. I don't know that it will help much now that you're in the throes, but next time you feel something coming on, pop a lozenge or two. You might end up avoiding the worst of it. And a bag of lozenges is a helluva lot cheaper than antibiotics...
