Hmm, it would appear that my watch does not acknowledge leap day. Will have to remember to fix that on Saturday.

I'm pretty sure that I completely forgot today was the 28th, which means I signed everything I finished and passed to the managing editor with yesterday's date. Oops.

I will be inordinately pleased when this week--and, by extension, this month--is over. Dear February 2008: Way to karmically bitchslap me for the awesomeness that was February 2007. You suck.

In other news, I just learned that Jerry Orbach was the voice of Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast. You know, Jerry Orbach of Law & Order and those creepy eye donation subway ads? For some reason I find this to be utterly bizarre.

Ugh, why am I up past my bedtime again? What the hell.

Jerry Orbach was huge on Broadway and Off Broadway in the 60's. He was in the musical The Fantasticks for a long time. They dimmed the lights for him when he died, which is a very big deal on Broadway.

WOW! JERRY ORBACH?! But he was so vocally animated as Lumierre. And so subdued (or so he seemed) in Law & Order. Straaaaange!!!

I had the same reaction when I found out about Jerry Orbach. I remember reading it in obituaries when he died and I was like "For reals!?!" I didn't even know he could sing, let alone do it with a French accent. But as the other commentor said, it turns out he was big on Broadway. (I remember the week he died, a book he wrote the introduction to about Broadway randomly fell off our shelves at B&N. Creeeepy.)

AND Jerry Orbach was Dr. Houseman in Dirty Dancing, a role which required him to stand in one place and look angry for hours on end.

I think if you check youtube you can also find video of him performing "Lullaby of Broadway" from 42nd Street. They don't make 'em like that much these days.
